Zodiac

If you've heard about the recent changes to Zodiac, you're probably wondering if this affects YOU? Well the only way it would affect you is if you are two are younger. Which from my guess I would assume that  a.) you are an extremely intelligent toddler or b.) you're older than two. Astronomers decided to make the change because the star map for the signs were thousands of years old, rendering the old star map useless.   Here are the new dates for the Zodiac
Pisces (March 13- April 19)
Aries (April 20- May 12)
Taurus (May 13- June 20)
Gemini (June 20- July 19)
Cancer (July 20- August 11)
Leo (August 11- September 17)
Virgo (September 18- October 31)
Libra (November 1- November 21)
Scorpius (November 22- November 30)
Ophiuchus/ Serpentarius (December 1- December 18)
Sagittarius (December 19- January 18)
Capricorn (January 19- February 17)
Aquarius (February 18- March 12)

Scale of the universe

Here is an Interactive site to fully understand the scale of our universe, and also gives us a perspective of how important we are!

The universe is infinite!......Right?

We can't see the end of the universe right? Therefore it must go on forever, right? That is a very good assumption, however it has been disproven. This is what we call the "Olbers' Paradox". Okay, so the assumption is that the universe is infinite in space and time. Therefore every line of sight from earth should end at a star, and if the universe is infinitely old, than the light has had time to reach us. So without having to know a lot about astronomy you would know that neither is true. Also, it couldn't be dust. Why not? Because dust at some point would generate the same temperature as a star, in which it would re-radiate like a star. NOT POSSIBLE. Therefore we have concluded that the universe is finite in space and time. Either there are no stars in certain directions or the light hasn't had time to reach us.

Solar Flares

Solar flares are explosions on the sun's surface associated with complex sunspot groups and strong magnetic fields. The past couple of weeks we've experienced one of the worst solar storms to date. What does that mean for us here on earth? Nothing too drastic, although many may find that their GPS (Global Positioning System) may be acting up or their smartphone might have trouble locating things.

Intro to the Universe

This blog will give an in depth look at the universe as it stands today and give readers an easy wasy to learn how the universe works. I will begin with information on planets and constellations that consist of the Milky Way Galaxy. Throughout the blog, with each new piece of information added, there will be photos and videos that correspond with the topic. Ever wondered how long it takes for the suns' light to reach Earth, or maybe Jupiter? With each planet that is added to the blog, a detailed equation will be explained to show you how you can find out the speed of light by yourself! Thank you for choosing this blog to spend your time on and welcome to the universe as we know it today
